Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon is so good, it’s getting a little bit silly. If you’ve ever played video games on the easiest level with a player that is 99 overall, that’s probably what it’s like to be Melvin Gordon in real life right now.

With Todd Gurley suspended, Gordon becomes the best back active in college football and on my personal draft board. Gordon has set a personal record with 146 yards rushing in the first half to go along with three touchdowns on only 18 carries. Not the least of which is this must-see 30-yard score in which Gordon sees a hole, makes a cut, and absolutely explodes upfield for a touchdown.

I’ve gushed over Gordon all year long, and this week is nothing different. He’s big, fast, strong, strong character, and just looks like an NFL back among a group of teenage boys right now. At this point in time, I would say Gordon has a really good chance of not just being a first round pick, but possibly a top 20 pick.

The only downside to his game right now is the fact that Wisconsin refuses to use him in the passing game, and recent Badgers draft picks at the running back position don’t exactly inspire confidence to NFL scouts with the way they’ve translated to the NFL. Wisconsin runs a very friendly scheme for these running backs, but Gordon is a special talent.

If you don’t already love watching this guy play, you soon will and you won’t see him on Saturdays much longer. This guy is going to kill it in the NFL in 2015.
