Brock Vereen

Safety, Minnesota

The Bears had a few nice value picks in this year’s draft. I loved their pickup of David Fales in the sixth round as well as Ka’Deem Carey in the fourth. But they traded from the fifth round into the fourth to get Minnesota safety Brock Vereen, who could wind up being a starter as a rookie. Vereen didn’t blow anyone away with his stats last season, finishing with 59 tackles, an interception, and six passes broken up. But this is a very athletic, aggressive defensive player who has a chance to make a significant impact as a rookie. That’s a phenomenal value.

Umm how about Teddy Bridgewater as the last pick in the first round? I would think getting the highest rated QB in this class for nothing but a 4th rounder would warrant being a top value pick…

    • Kyle Smith

      Agreed ^

First round picks were not considered for this article but you make a great point.

Well when the title of the article is top “value” picks, you should include all rounds if the pick obtained was substantial in regards the potential impact the pick could make. More specifically, Teddy could be the answer the Vikings have been looking for at QB and we got him for almost nothing!

Not to say the other 1st round Picks for the other NFC north teams were not impactful, but getting the #1 Qb that was considered the most pro-ready in the last few years for a 4th rounder is going to have a much larger impact then a Kyle Fuller or Ebron…

Love that we got Yankey in the fifth round. A 1st round talent that late is definitely great value.. same could be said for Exum , getting a 3rd or 4th round talent in the sixth was valuable as well…excited about the guys from this draft
