With the 36th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders have selected Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State.
We all knew the Raiders would at some point pick a quarterback, but they did the right thing by passing in the first round, getting a pass rusher in Khalil Mack and supplementing that by getting Carr here in the 2nd round, where he is a phenomenal value.
The Raiders will likely start the season with Matt Schaub at QB, but I have no doubt that Carr could be the starter by season’s end. He has one of the strongest arms in the draft, and reminded me a lot of Jay Cutler when I watched him play.
This is another great value for the Raiders in this draft, two picks they desperately needed to keep this franchise afloat even at this point.
