2014 Draft Grade: Houston Texans Select Xavier Su'a-Filo

The Houston Texans selected guard Xavier Su’a-Filo with the 33rd pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Scheme Fit

Of all the guards in the 2014 class, none seemed more ready to make the jump to the pros than Su’a-Filo.  He’s big, agile, displays good leverage and footwork and is very hard to push back in pass protection.  A true plug-and-play starter.

My Reaction

From a need standpoint it’s not big but from a value standpoint this is outstanding.  To me, Su’a-Filo is the most complete guard in this draft.  He’s tough, strong, durable and dedicated to his craft.  The Texans will find a home for him and he’ll stay there for a decade.

Grade:  A
