2014 NFL Draft Grade: Arizona Cardinals Select Deone Bucannon

The Arizona Cardinals selected safety Deone Bucannon with the 27th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

OVERALL GRADE

Obviously it’s early, but let’s give this pick a C-. In the end, the Cardinals are a huge question mark. I think when you combine Bruce Arians with the team they currently have, anything can happen. This pick isn’t a sure thing, but it will be interesting to track.

WHY THIS PICK MIGHT WORK

Bucannon can contribute in the secondary right away. His game tape was fun to watch, and I think that’s what the Arizona brass was thinking when they made this selection.

WHY THIS PICK COULD BE A BUST

The Cardinals will wish they had drafted Jimmie Ward at the end of the day. Bucannon is a guy that I had as a third round grade, and Jimmie Ward is a first round pick. The future here is concerning.

SURPRISE OR EXPECTED?

Weigh in below with your thoughts on this one, fans. There was certainly a lot of speculation that the Cardinals could go off the board in a big way here, so this pick is an interesting one. One thing is for sure, this NFL Draft isn’t disappointing for fans one bit.
