NFL Network Draft analyst and former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah went on the Dan Patrick show with a little tid-bit on the Cleveland Browns’ pre-draft plans.

“This is what I was told, Dan, was that their guy is Derek Carr and they’re gonna take a different player with the fourth pick and they want to take Derek Carr with their second one.  So look, you believe what you want to believe, but I’ve heard that from several different places.”

There were also reports that the Browns were enamored by Carr at the Senior Bowl, so this report would obviously make sense.

Picking 4th and 26th in this year’s draft, it seems the Browns would either have to move down from #4 or up from #26 to get adequate value on Carr, but if he’s really “their guy” then they would be willing to take him at #4 overall when push came to shove.

Carr has recently seen his stock fall a bit, so there’s also the possibility he could drop to the 26th pick if they were willing to give that a try, but there are simply too many teams with quarterback needs behind the Browns to risk that. If they are faced with a situation where they are looking at all of Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, and Derek Carr, or some combination of three of the top four quarterbacks, they’d be able to trade down.

If there are only two guys available for them, they would have to seriously consider their options given QB is probably their top need.
