This is some very disappointing news.
According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, former Alabama offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio has been failed by ‘several teams’ for an arthritic knee stemming from a failed surgery while he was at college.
Kouandjio looked like he was lumbering along in his 40 yard dash attempts, nothing close to the athletic ability I thought we might see from him. In fact, it was pretty ugly.
“Ugly” is also the word that Rapoport said teams used to describe his injury situation.
There is now some speculation that Kouandjio could be pushed to the third day of the 2014 draft. If his knee is as bad as these teams think it is, he’ll be pushed way down boards.
Kouandjio is a former #1 high school recruit who picked Alabama over Auburn and became a very steady starting left tackle for them before leaving early for this year’s draft. Obviously, this is a disturbing bit of news and Kouandjio is going to have to clear his medical situation in order to be picked in the first round.
