When the offseason started everyone was saying that the Chiefs had to get a quarterback. Well they then traded their 2nd round pick for Alex Smith. Now that they have their starting quarterback on the roster, they have a lot of options with who they want to take with the 1st pick in the draft. The team has a lot of talent on it starting with Jamaal Charles, Tamba Hali, Justin Houston, Brandon Flowers, Dwayne Bowe and Eric Berry. Matt Cassel really brought the team down last year with his turnovers and Brady Quinn wasn’t much better, which led to the acquisition of Alex Smith. Lets look at the top 5 options for the Chiefs to take at #1.

Jan 4, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Texas A

Luke Joeckel – Seems to be the popular pick of who the Chiefs are going to take. With the release of Eric Winston the Chiefs could take Joekle and put him in at right tackle and let him work from there as a rookie or they could plug him straight in as left tackle and move Branden Albert over to the right side. Joekle instantly makes your offensive line better and keeps your new QB in Smith upright. He also helps out the strength of your team in Jamaal Charles get going.

Still hoping for a starting CB and RT so I can watch Kiper & McShay’s collective heads explode

If you all sign a CB and a RT I’d imagine you’d have to go DE. Now that you signed Daniels to that 3 year deal I think Geno is out of the question.
