Top Pick Andrew Luck Shines in Colts Pre-Season Debut

Not a bad start for Andrew Luck’s professional career. Just as Peyton Manning threw a touchdown on his first ever pass for the Colts, Luck dumped off a pass to running back Donald Brown who scampered 63 yards to the end zone for a score on Luck’s first NFL toss. It was what could be a fitting beginning to the career of Luck, who is one of the most anticipated NFL prospects in the history of the sport.

Luck is touted as arguably the most NFL ready QB prospect in this history of the game, and he looked pretty darn good in his pre-season opener. Luck finished the game with 10 completions on 16 passes with two touchdown strikes, including a 23 yard touchdown pass to Austin Collie.

Luck’s final rating was over 142, and to be honest, I think this kind of debut shows just how good of a prospect he truly is. Obviously there will be tough times ahead, but what a start for the top pick in the draft. Hats off to Luck for his poise on his first NFL stage with another former top pick staring him down from the other sideline.

Another bright spot for the Colts was the season debut of former first round pick Jerry Hughes out of TCU, who finished the game with two sacks. To this point, the former top pass rushing prospect has been a bit of a bust, but if Hughes can use this as some momentum going into the season, he could revive his NFL career.
