Not sure if Jesse has already touched on this in a previous article, but I was scouring the web Wednesday morning and found out that the Packers are already lining up first round pick Nick Perry with the starting unit.
This is not a surprise but typically teams make their young players earn it. Apparently the Packers feel good enough about Perry that they are sticking him in the starting lineup immediately. I think he has a chance to be a special player. Perry was absolutely one of the best pass rushers in the Pac 12 last season, though he was inconsistent. He’s going to need to bring a consistent motor on every play in order to be the complement to Clay Matthews that the Packers need him to be.
Rookie defensive tackle Jerel Worthy was also lining up with the Packers’ defensive starters, so they are ready for a front seven youth movement, apparently.
Another big note from the Packers’ OTA notes is that former first round pick Derek Sherrod is not practicing yet, neither is running back Alex Green, who some think could be the team’s starting tailback this season.
