Today is draft day and I thought I’d have a little Q and A with the terrific Packers blog lombardiave.com to prepare you for the Packers in the draft. Here are the results of that Question and answer session.

1). What’s up with B.J. Raji? Can we expect a better year in 2012?

B.J. Raji didn’t go anywhere, but lost his supporting cast when Cullen Jenkins moved on to Philly last year. Without any help at all on the defensive line last year, he got swallowed up with double teams and teams that ran their offense away from him. If the Packers go out and draft some solid defensive linemen I think you will see Raji make a huge comeback … but it’s a big IF. The Packers have to hit the jackpot with their picks in order for that to happen.

"2). After free agency what are the Packers biggest needs?"

Clearly, the biggest needs for the Packers is along their defensive front. They need to add impact players on the defensive line, as well as depth. In addition, they need to draft an outside linebacker/defensive end to complement Clay Matthews. Throw in a couple of defensive backs that are good football players and the defense should make huge strides. But then again, with a defense that was rated dead last, there’s only one way to go, right?
