Cleveland Browns Select Alabama RB Trent Richardson Live Draft Grade

The Cleveland Browns have traded up from the 4th pick in the draft to the third pick in the draft to select Alabama running back Trent Richardson. Richardson is widely considered the best running back to enter the draft since Oklahoma Running back (and current Minnesota Vikings RB) Adrian Peterson. In order to move up the Browns gave up two extra picks (three if you include the #4 overall pick, which I don’t really). They gave up their 5th and 7th round picks.

This move takes care of the Browns biggest needs which is Running back. The Browns had 13 total picks and now have 11. The Browns still have a glaring need at WR. They need another pass rusher, linebackers, cornerback, and potentially a quarterback as well. The Browns will also pick 21st overall.

Getting Trent Richardson is a terrific move, but I think he’d still be available at #4 if they didn’t move up the extra spot. It’s a move that will instantly improve the Cleveland Browns offense.  Trent Richardson is very physical, and has good speed. A good move for both teams. The Vikings can still get the same exact player they wanted prior to the trade, but picked up two extra picks on day three.
