Wednesday Morning NFL Draft Links: Tebow Trade, RG3’s Pro Day, and DeMeco Ryans

Now that Peyton Manning is in the fold for about $18 million dollars in 2012, rumors are swirling as to where Tim Tebow may be traded, and the thought is that it could be done sometime on Wednesday. Reportedly, the Jaguars, Packers, Jets, and Dolphins are among the teams that have discussed acquiring Tebow either internally or with the Broncos.

According to ESPN Denver-based reporter and radio host Cecil Lammy, the Broncos want a 2nd and 5th round pick in return for Tebow.

It’s clear to me from yesterday’s press conference that John Elway has deep emotional and personal ties to Tebow, because it looked and sounded like he was getting a bit choked up talking to him. I think the type of person that Tim Tebow truly is, the guy we see on TV does not even scratch the surface of who he is.

That being said, this is a business move and the Broncos want what’s best for them and for Tebow, so if they can get a fair deal for Tebow, they will probably pull the trigger sooner rather than later. For now, though, both Tebow and Manning appear on Denver’s latest roster. I have heard the Broncos have been offered anywhere between a 7th and a 5th round pick for Tebow, so I’m not exactly sold they are going to trade him if their asking price is truly a 2nd and 5th, which truthfully is less than I think they deserve to get back, whether you agree or not.

One player who was traded for less than he’s worth is Texans linebacker DeMeco Ryans, who went to the Eagles for a swap of third round picks and a fourth round pick. I think the Eagles got a steal in this trade and should be really excited about the acquisition. The biggest thing here is that it knocks the Texans down another really important player. They have already gotten rid of Eric Winston (Chiefs), lost Mario Williams (Bills), and now traded DeMeco Ryans (Eagles) off of their AFC South Champion team in 2011.

The Texans appear to be building a winner, but they have lost three really key pieces this offseason and they have some ground to make up, if you ask me.

Another big event going down in Texas today is Baylor’s pro day, featuring Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and his top receiver Kendall Wright. Wright has a lot of catching up to do after running a 4.6 40 at the Combine.

The article also talks about what RG3 wants to show at his Pro Day. He already showcased elite speed, now we will get to see him throw. The Pro Day will be aired on NFL Network.
