Free Agency Frenzy Starts Today!

As the cuts continue to pile up in the NFL before the onset of free agency today at 4 p.m. (EST), the pending free agent class continues to add big names to it’s ranks. The Houston Texans made a surprise move yesterday when they cut starting right tackle Eric Winston as we reported here at NFLmocks, adding another player for potential suitors to comb through in the next couple of weeks. By now everyone knows about the moving circus that is the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, but with DE Mario Williams, OG’s Carl Nicks and Ben Grubbs as well as WR Vincent Jackson the talent to improve your roster is out there, for the right price. Another situation that will be interesting to watch will be that of the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys after the NFL penalized them with reduced cap space for dumping salary into the uncapped year (which kind of makes it sound like there is a cap), Daniel Snyder and Jerry Jones are usually two of the most active members in the push to bring in free agents, but with these penalties imposed yesterday just how active will they be this year?

As we get ready to kick off this frantic time in the NFL, the question I would ask is as a fan do you want your team to go out and spend big to bring in the big names in free agency (2010 Philadelphia Eagles) or continue to build through the draft only (New England & Green Bay)? Let me know your thoughts and what you would do if you had control of your favorite team. And as always stay tuned to NFLmocks for breaking news and updates during this opening free agent period.
