Houston Texans Surprisingly Cut Right Tackle Eric Winston

According to Eric Winston himself on Twitter, he has been released by the Houston Texans. One of the best right tackles in the NFL will hit the market in a thin offensive tackle class, and probably make a ton of money.

This move is shocking because Houston’s offensive line is already losing a pro bowl caliber center in Chris Myers, and they also have to replace the right guard position.

It is also particularly of note because Winston was also only slated to make $5.5 million in guaranteed money, which is actually a pretty good for one of the players on their team considered arguably the best at his position in the NFL.

The Texans will now go into this offseason without–potentially–the services of Chris Myers, Eric Winston, and Mario Williams.

Ouch. Not exactly a great list of players to be missing in the trenches a year after the best season in franchise history.
