Report: Redskins and Rams Agree to Trade for 2nd Overall Pick

Really? They gave up three first round picks to get me?

Fox Sports reporter Jay Glazer is reporting that the Washington Redskins have acquired the rights to the 2nd overall pick coming up in April’s draft from the Rams. Glazer reports that two additional first round picks are involved, including the Redskins’ sixth overall pick this year, and Adam Schefter reported that a second round pick is also involved. The Rams will come away from this trade with three first round picks and a second round pick, which is a sick coup for them.

Mike Shanahan is one of the most aggressive guys in the offseason, so it’s no surprise that the Skins traded up, and now they will be able to select Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III with the 2nd overall pick, nearly solidifying the top three of the draft.

Now that this trade has gone through, it takes the Redskins out of the running for Peyton Manning but it also is a talking point and recruiting chip for prospective free agents coming in next week.

This is a huge trade and ensures that the guy who has been called the next Mike Vick will now play against Vick twice next season.
