Orson Charles Continues Disappointing Pre-Draft Process With DUI Arrest

Georgia Bulldogs Tight End Orson Charles has had a disappointing pre-draft process. At one point Charles was an intriguing an ascending talent at the tight end position, but after choosing of his own violation not to run the 40 yard dash at the combine, and then struggling to crack 4.7 in the 40 at his Proday (perhaps due to wind), Charles has been arrested for a DUI. What is most troubling about this arrest is that Charles should know that teams are looking for any reason not to draft a player at this time of year and Charles is handing them over in bunch-fulls.

If a player is in college partying and gets a DUI it’s perhaps easier to overlook because the player is there for a span of three years and college kids do stupid things. But so far all Charles has shown scouts and G.M.s before the draft is that he is a questionable decision maker (why didn’t he run the 40 yard dash at the combine) and now with the DUI. I think now Charles has no chance to be drafted in the first round.

Charles’s name is listed on the Athens-Clarke County Jail booking log, and the student newspaper at the University of Georgia confirms that the Orson Charles who was arrested is the same Orson Charles who was an All-SEC tight end at Georgia.
