Defensive Line

  • Chas Alecxih, Pittsburgh
  • Josh Chapman, Alabama
  • Jared Crick, Nebraska
  • Mike Daniels, Iowa
  • Hebron Fangupo, BYU
  • Dominique Hamilton, Missouri
  • DaJohn Harris, Southern Cal
  • Jaye Howard, Florida
  • John Hughes, Cincinnati
  • Malik Jackson, Tennessee
  • Markus Kuhn, North Carolina State
  • Mike Martin, Michigan
  • Vaughn Meatoga, Hawaii
  • Tydreke Powell, North Carolina
  • Kheeston Randle, Texas
  • Kendall Reyes, Connecticut
  • Travian Robertson, South Carolina
  • Devon Still, Penn State
  • Alameda Ta’Amu, Washington
  • Brandon Thompson, Clemson
  • Billy Winn, Boise State
  • Derek Wolfe, Cincinnati

The player here who could really improve their draft grade with a big combine would be Michigan Mike Martin. He’s considered an over-acheiver who lacks terrific measurables, if however, he has better than anticipated measurables he could change some opinions.

Brandon Thompson didn’t finish the season the way he started and also needs a big combine.

DEFENSIVE ENDS

  • Frank Alexander, Oklahoma
  • Jake Bequette, Arkansas
  • Andre Branch, Clemson
  • Quinton Coples, North Carolina
  • Jack Crawford, Penn State
  • Tyrone Crawford, Boise State
  • Vinny Curry, Marshall
  • Justin Francis, Rutgers
  • Trevor Guyton, California
  • Melvin Ingram, South Carolina
  • Bruce Irvin, West Virginia
  • Cam Johnson, Virginia
  • Brandon Lindsey, Pittsburgh
  • Shea McClellin, Boise State
  • Derrick Shelby, Utah
  • Jacquies Smith, Missouri
  • Scott Solomon, Rice
  • Deangelo Tyson, Georgia

There are three players here who could really improve their draft stock. Frank Alexander is undersized for a 43 DE, if he shows fluid hips and ability he could convert to 34 and raise his stock big time. He’s been productive.  Cam Johnson is a guy who has great size, but doesn’t jump off the screen, he needs a good combine. Lastly, Bruce Irvin had a bad season in large part because he was misused, but if he shows a quick get off he could even get as high as the first round. He’s undersized, but plays with good leverage and really productive last season.

OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS

  • Emmanuel Acho, Texas
  • Ryan Baker, LSU
  • Nigel Bradham, Florida State
  • Zach Brown, North Carolina
  • Miles Burris, San Diego State
  • Lavonte David, Nebraska
  • Demario Davis, Arkansas State
  • Darius Fleming, Notre Dame
  • Josh Kaddu, Oregon
  • Brandon Marshall, Nevada
  • Tyler Nielsen, Iowa
  • Keenan Robinson, Texas
  • Sean Spence, Miami
  • Danny Trevathan, Kentucky
  • Courtney Upshaw, Alabama
  • Tahir Whitehead, Temple
  • Kyle Wilber, Wake Forest

Combine workout warrior alert: Nigel Bradham out of Florida State should wow. Danny Trevathan is one of my favorite under the radar players.

Zach Brown and Sean Spence are two other guys who could clock very impressive 40 yard dashes.

INSIDE LINEBACKERS

  • Tank Carder, TCU
  • Audie Cole, North Carolina State
  • Najee Goode, West Virginia
  • James-Michael Johnson, Nevada
  • Mychal Kendricks, California
  • Travis Lewis, Oklahoma
  • Shawn Loiseau, Merrimack
  • Bobby Wagner, Utah State

I think two players here need big workouts. The first is James Michael Johnson he’s productive and there are some draftniks who love this guy, I like him as well, but don’t love him. A big combine could really help out. Tank Carder is productive, but suffers from the “instinctive not a great athlete tag”. He needs to shed that label at the combine.

CORNERBACKS

  • Dwight Bentley, Louisiana-Lafayette
  • RJ Blanton, Notre Dame
  • Omar Bolden, Arizona State
  • Brandon Boykin, Georgia
  • Charles Brown, North Carolina
  • Alfonzo Dennard, Nebraska
  • Antonio Fenelus, Wisconsin
  • Jamell Fleming, Oklahoma
  • Terrence Frederick, Texas A&M
  • Mike Harris, Florida State
  • Casey Hayward, Vanderbilt
  • Asa Jackson, Cal Poly
  • Janoris Jenkins, North Alabama
  • Leonord Johnson, Iowa State
  • Trumaine Johnson, Montana
  • Jeremy Jones, Wayne State
  • Coryell Judie, Texas A&M
  • Anthony Lynn, Penn State
  • De’Quan Menzie, Alabama
  • Chase Minnifield, Virginia
  • Josh Norman, Coastal Carolina
  • Micah Pellerin, Hampton
  • Shaun Prater, Iowa
  • Antwuan Reed, Pittsburgh
  • Coty Sensabaugh, Clemson
  • Ryan Steed, Furman
  • Trevin Wade, Arizona
  • Corey White, Samford

Three names important to me here are: Brandon Boykin. He needs to measure in at a respectable height. If he measures shorter than his listed height, it could cause him soe problems. Leonard Johnson does a lot right at the cornerback position and is very physical. H eneeds to show off impressive ability and better than anticipated speed to see a huge jump in his draft stock.

Jamel Fleming watch this name. His stock could soon soar.

I Guess you can throw in Trumaine Johnson too. He was seen as a second round player before his arrest this season.

SAFETIES

  • Antonio Allen, South Carolina
  • Mark Barron, Alabama
  • Justin Bethel, Presbyterian
  • Sean Cattouse, California
  • Delano Howell, Stanford
  • Duke Ihenacho, San Jose State
  • George Iloka, Boise State
  • Markelle Martin, Oklahoma State
  • Charles Mitchell, Mississippi State
  • Eddie Pleasant, Oregon
  • Cyhl Quarles, Wake Forest
  • Trent Robinson, Michigan State
  • Harrison Smith, Notre Dame
  • Brandon Taylor, LSU
  • Christian Thompson, South Carolina State

Two names: Harrison Smith, Mark Barron. Both terrific players, both considered “lesser N.F.L. athletes”. Barron could go in the first round with a good combine, Smith could go on day two with a good combine and his terrifid size and play making ability.

  • Derek Dimke, Illinois
  • Kyle Martens, Rice
  • Brad Nortman, Wisconsin

  • Brian Stahovich, San Diego State
  • Dave Teggart, Connecticut
  • Blair Walsh, Georgia
  • Carson Wiggs, Purdue

LONG SNAPPER
