2012 NFL Mock Draft: Chicago Bears 7 Round Mock

facebooktwitterreddit

This 2012 NFL Mock draft will be for the Chicago Bears. Clearly, when Cutler is healthy they are a different team, a team capable of making a playoff run next year, but they are not without their faults. Here’s a route I think the Bears should consider for the 2012 NFL Draft.

1st Round: Michael Floyd, WR, Norte Dame

Jay Cutler has really proven his worth since his injury. Cutler was playing well with the Bears, average at best wide receivers. Imagine if he had a real weapon on offense. Michael Floyd might has gotten in trouble off the field for drinking and driving, but when he’s on the field he’s excellent. He goes up and competes for the football better than anyone in College Football.

2nd Round: Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech

Hosley had a down year,  but is what the Bears need in thier secondary. He has really good athletic ability and is impressive at reading the quarterback and making plays on the football. Hosley could be among the lead leaders in interceptions playing on the Bears in their system and with their defensive line putting pressure up front. The Bears cornerback talent does not impress me at all. Hosley didn’t have a great season, but mid 2nd round to mid 3rd round is still his range.

3rd Round: (Via Panthers for Greg Olsen): Joseph Fauria, TE, UCLA

Here is what the Bears have gotten from their tight ends this season: 22 receptions for 294 yards receiving. That has to be the worst Tight End production in the entire league. I recognize that their offensive system isn’t mecca for productive tight ends, but they need to upgrade that position. Kind of annoying to fans to trade away a tight end for a third round pick only to select a tight end with that same very pick, but a necessary move.

3rd Round: Nigel Bradham, LB, Florida State University

We all know that Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher are studs, but I don’t think Nick Roach is anything special and Urlacher and Briggs are both over 30 years old (Urlacher will be 34, Briggs will be 32 next year) and they could use long term replacements for them as well. Bradham is a gifted athlete who could excel in the Bears system at the strong side and could win a starting job next year.

4th Round: Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas

Peppers is awesome and the Bears have generated decent pressure with their front four this year, but they only have four sacks from Defensive Ends on their depth chart right now that aren’t Julius Peppers and they will look to add more talent there this off-season.

5th Round: Rokevious Watkins, G, South Carolina

Every year the Bears draft offensive linemen early and every year they have offensive linemen problems. It’s hard to figure out. I’m sure they will draft OL again at some point this year.

6th Round: Terrance Ganaway, RB, Baylor Bears

Ganaway isn’t a huge household name and is overshadowed on offense by Robert Griffin III and Kendall Wright, but he’s had a nice season with the Bears and has shown ability. He isn’t the pass catcher the Bears prefer in their players, but is a Brandon Jacobs type of inside runner. He could develop into a real nice goal line player and running back fill in. The Bears hope he develops into the next Michael Turner-he has that kind of build and deceptive speed.

7th Round: Ramon Buchanan, LB, Miami Hurricanes

Buchanan is an undersized fast linebacker who needs refinement in his game. He’ll start as a special teams guy and hopefully develop into Lance Briggs replacement.
