MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Recap: Boise State Dominates Arizona State

Game MVP: Boise State RB Doug Martin

The star senior running back carried the ball 31 times for 151 yards and a touchdown, but also took the opening kickoff 100 yards for a score. Martin is ready for the NFL, and may be the highest player drafted in 2012 from this entire game. He added three receptions for 26 yards as well.

Surprise breakout player: Arizona State WR Gerell Robinson

Robinson was a guy we looked at right before the game yesterday and gave you a scouting report on, but not even his biggest fans could have envisioned the kind of game he would have against Boise State, catching 13 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown. At 6’4″ 222 pounds, he is a really impressive kid physically and it will be interesting to see where he lands in the draft.

Hats off: Boise State QB Kellen Moore

Moore has been part of 50 wins in four years at Boise State, more than any other BCS subdivision school out there. Congratulations to Moore and the Broncos on a spectacular career.

Brighter Days Ahead: Arizona State QB Brock Osweiler

Osweiler set a school record passing for 4,036 yards and 26 touchdowns with 13 interceptions, and I think if he declares for the draft in 2012, he will be picked as high as Blaine Gabbert was, and maybe higher. Osweiler is a big kid at 6’8″ with a ton of athletic versatility and a pretty strong arm. It will be interesting to see what he decides since USC’s Matt Barkley opted to return for his senior season.
