2012 NFL Draft Watch: Arkansas Razor Backs vs LSU Tigers Huge Game for a Trio of Razorback Wide Recievers

facebooktwitterreddit

Today’s Arkansas and and LSU game has a lot of talent on display, sure it means something much greater to college football fans than draft fans because there are serious National Championship implications resting on this game, but there is also an important draft matchup to watch. The talented LSU Secondary vs the Arkansas passing game.

LSU has a ton of talent on both sides of the ball, but a lot of their talent is young and likely to return back to school next year. Arkansas could have some of it’s players return as well, but there is a lot of talent that could be available for this year’s draft, especially at the skill position players.

Arkansas Quarterack Tyler Wilson has had a huge season this year and if returns (which is likely) he could compete to be a first round draft pick next year.

LSU has arguably the most talented secondary in the league, lead by the talented Morris Claiborne, who has played himself into top 10 consideration this year and overtaken Alabama’s Dre Kirkpatrick as the best cornerback in this class. Arkansas doesn’t have a WR on the level as Justin Blackmon or anything, but they run deep at wide receiver with future middle round picks. (click on the names to see our scouting report page. Joe Adams

Jarius Wright

Greg Childs

All three of these guys are seniors and all thee guys are talented players, but each have things to work on. In the Sugar Bowl  game last year Joe Adams, dropped three huge passes that could have been touchdowns which may have prompted his return to school this year. Adams is a percy Harvin type of player who makes plays from many different parts of the field. He has three punt return touchdowns this year, 46 receptions. and a rushing touchdown. He’s undersized  a bit at 5’11 190 pounds. A huge game from Adams today could get his stock soaring

Jarius Wright is the breakout WR of this group this season. Last season Wright had 42 receptions for 788 yards receiving. This year he has 61 receptions for over a 1000 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns already. A huge game vs the talented LSU secondary could catapult him even higher into the draft than his big season has already.

Greg Childs

Childs missed much of last season with an injury and has missed time this year with an injury. This game is perhaps the most important to him. He’s been beat up this year. He’s the biggest of this talented trio of WR at 6’3 217 pounds, but his production has been poor this year. He only has13 receptions for 152 yards. Childs needs a huge game tonight.

Enjoy the game it should be a good one and be sure to watch how well the Arkansas passing game does, it could go a long way in determining where these three players land as well as  how high Tyler Wilson can get his profile.

And if you want there are many other players to keep an eye on:

LSU wr Rueben Randle is a talentd guy who is perhaps looking for a huge breakout game to declare for the N.F.L. draft. This year has been all about big plays for Randle. He’s averaging almost 20 yards per catch and has 8 touchdowns, he has great size, but he’s also disappeared for a few games including his game against Alabama where he had 2 catches for 19 yards.

Arkansas DE Jake Bequetee has battled some injuries this year but could work himself into the 2nd and 3rd round conversation by the end of the year. Bequette has good size at 6’4 275 pounds and has made a lot of plays this year. he has 8 sacks.

Arkansas RB Ronnie Wingo is a powerful running back, unfortunately for the Razorbacks they’ve been without Knile Davis all season.

LSU DT Michael Brockers is a future first round pick, the red-shirt sophomore is unlikely to declare for the draft this year though.

Other names to watch:

LSU: T alex Hurst, DE Lavar Edwards, WR Rusel Shepard, S Brandon Taylor.

And then LSU has a ton of talented redshirt sophomore so just watch LSU all over the field and you’ll see the future of the N.F.L. draft!
