Round 2

1. Indianapolis Colts                   Dwight Jones           WR           NC

Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon are both FA next season.  Dallas Clark is winding down as well.  Colts just took Luck and will need to surround him with weapons.  Being able to acquire Jones is a steal at 33.

2. St. Louis Rams                   TJ McDonald             FS            USC

Everyone keeps mocking CB’s to the Rams but the Rams have solid CB talent….its just on the IR.  What they do not have is sound safety play outside of Mitchell.  McDonald gives Spagnuolu an elite, athletic, versatile safety he has not had in St. Louis.

3. Washington Redskins          Marvin McNutt           WR           Iowa

This kid is sick.  When I watch him I sometimes think he might be the best WR in this draft…I am not joking.  I would not be surprised if GM’s come to that conclusion on draft day.  As it is the Redskins get a much needed weapon for Barkley here.

4. Carolina Panthers                  Stephon Gilmore      CB           SC

Gilmore has had an up and down year but I think he will be very sound in the NFL.  He has size and plays with great aggression.  In the 3-4 scheme the Panthers utilize it is imperative to have aggressive CB’s with speed to play on an island.  Gilmore would be welcomed.

5. Miami Dolphins                   Kelechi Osemele     OL            Iowa State

Dolphins need another guard and tackle in order to be a completely dominate OL.  Osemele can play 4 positions and will probably become a pro bowl OG for the Dolphins.  With a very sound OL Griffin has a chance to succeed.

6. Minnesota Vikings            Janoris Jenkins        CB           N Alabama

I have stated numerous times Jenkins is the best CB in this draft, his off the field issues land him out of Round 1.  That being said he is well worth the risk here.  Jenkins is a shut down CB and the Vikings are in dire need of secondary help.

7. Philadelphia Eagles (T)       Mike Adams               OT            Ohio State

Now that the run defense has improved it is about time the Eagles start on the OL.  Adams is a monster of a man that would fill the hole at RT.  Herremans has played well but is a better OG than OT.  Adams and Peters give the Eagles a solid OT tandem.

8. Kansas City Chiefs               Frank Alexander        DE/OLB    Oklahoma

As stated in Round 1 the Chiefs are last place in sacks.  Houston has been a bust so far and it is unsafe to think he can improve.  Sure he might but pass rushing depth is never a bad things.  Alexander has shown the ability to play LB from time to time at Oklahoma in a 3-4.  Coples and Alexander will not allow the Chiefs to be last next year.

9. Cleveland Browns                  Jayron Hosley          CB           VT

Hosley’s groin injury is limiting his effectiveness.  When healthy he is a ball hawk that the Browns would love to have.  Haden gets avoided so it is imperative the Browns have another CB who can make plays.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars         Robert Lester           FS            Alabama

Lester is the type of player Gene Smith loves: tough, intelligent, multiple year starters.  Lester is one of the leaders in Alabama and should help the Jaguars secondary get out of mediocrity.  I know they ignore DE and WR again but along with Claiborne the Jaguars secondary should become strong.

11. Seattle Seahawks             Ryan Tannehill         QB           Texas AM

Desperate teams make desperate decisions.  Don’t believe me?  Why did the Seahawks sign Taveris Jackson and trade for Charlie Whitehurst????  That is why the Seahawks draft Tannehill.

12. Philadelphia Eagles            Lavonte David          OLB         Nebraska

Eagles acquire another elite OLB.  All of a sudden the Eagles LB unit appears to be a strength.  Zack Brown and David both have sideline to sideline speed and play very aggressive.  Only problem is both are slightly under sized.

13. Denver Broncos               Lamar Miller             RB           Miami

Broncos are positing some huge numbers with below average RB’s and Tim Tebow.  I think it is the scheme and I do not think it will work next year.  That being said Miller is a first round talent who would give Fix the elite type of RB he craves.

14. Tampa Bay Buccs             Casey Hayward        CB           Vanderbilt

CB is in dire need of an upgrade.  Talib might be suspended and Barber is closing in on 40 it seems like.  Myron Lewis has not stepped up to this point as well.  Hayward is a big time play maker, who faces elite competition weekly, and is a superb tackler.

15. Buffalo Bills                            Whitney Merclilus     DE/OLB    Illinois

I do not fully trust Merclilus quite yet.  I know his numbers are off the chart but he lacks a lot of instincts and technique.  Bills will like his speed and potential and even with Upshaw will need more pass rushers.

16. San Diego Chargers           Mark Barron             SS            Alabama

Chargers were hoping Bob Sanders would fill the SS position.  Early on he was until he went out for the season again.  No team can count on him but if the Chargers can get Barron they will not have to worry.  Getting a player like Barron who is always by the football and can impact the game in so many ways is a must.

17. Tennessee Titans                 Cordy Glenn             OG           Georgia

Titans get another mauler to improve their interior OL.  With Glenn and Konz I fully expect a bounce back year from CJ2K….considering he still wants to play.

18. Atlanta Falcons                     Dwayne Allen            TE            Clemson

As I keep repeating it is imperative that teams build around their young QB.  Ryan will one day miss Tony Gonzalez and must replace him before they need to.  Allen would get one season to learn from Gonzalez and start his own solid career.

19. Cincinnati Bengals           Kevin Zeitler             OG           Wisconsin

I know Chris Polk is still there but Zeitler is the most under rated player to me in this draft.  He will keep the Bengals OL a dominant run blocking unit.

20. Dallas Cowboys               Billy Winn                                DL            Boise State

Cowboys keep patching up the defensive front seven.  Winn and Lewis will make Rob Ryan very happy.  I sense a lot of sacks for the Cowboys defense next season.

21. Detroit Lions                    Matt Reynolds           OT            BYU

This OL needs to get stronger and more consistent.  DeCasto and Reynolds are both nasty, stable lineman.  DeCasto and Reynolds will one day be the starting right side of the Lions OL.  Lions run game will be that much better and inconsistent Cherlius and Peterman will be shown the door.

22. Chicago Bears                       Mohammed Sanu      WR           Rutgers

Bears could use an upgrade in the receiver department.  Hester is more of a return man, Nox seems to be regressing, Williams will not be brought back, and Bennett is a #2 WR.  Sanu, Bennett, and Nox would be a solid three WR tandem.

23. New England Pats (T)        Josh Chapman        NT            Alabama

Wilfork has a couple seasons left at a high level and than the search will be on.  Patriots could take his replacement now and have quality depth in the meantime.  Still and Chapman will make this DL formidable once again.

24. Houston Texans                    Markelle Martin         SS/FS       Oklahoma State

I think the Texans go defense for one more draft before a decade of offensive picks.  Martin and Amu will round out a very young, talented defensive unit.

25. New York Jets                   Chris Polk                                RB           Washington

Shonn Green is a solid player but very limited.  Tomlinson is aging and their other young RB’s have shown little to this point.  Chris Polk has the speed, size, and vision to post huge numbers in this offense.

26. Baltimore Ravens          Nate Potter                               OT            Boise State

Ravens OL just cannot pass block that well.  Problem arises from LT where McKinnie struggles with speed rushers.  Potter is not a dominate run blocker but is capable.  He is an elite pass blocker and would allow Flacco to become more comfortable in the pocket.

27. New York Giants             Travis Lewis             OLB         Oklahoma

The Giants LB unit is okay at best.  They lack an elite LB who can do a variety of things.  Lewis at one point was a first round lock who has since fallen due to injuries, attitude, and a decrease in production.  Still, he represents value and Jerry Reece loves his BPA strategy.

28. San Francisco 49ers         Cliff Harris              CB           Oregon

49ers pass defense could use some more talent.  Carlos Rogers is having a career year and could use a running mate.  Cliff Harris would give the 49ers a very opportunistic CB.

29. New England Patriots        Nick Toon                 WR           Wisconsin

Nick Toon will finally give Tom Brady what he as lacked since Moss left, a big target who can get deep.  Toon will open up the short to medium reads Brady loves to use.

30. New Orleans Saints            Jerel Worthy             DT            MSU

Gregg Williams loves aggression and enthusiastic players.   Worthy is both…he is the leader of a very good MSU defense and would help the  Saints get interior pressure they currently lack.

31. Pittsburgh Steelers              Zebrie Sanders         OT            FSU

Sanders have done a very solid job at LT for the Seminoles since Datko left with an injury.  Steelers would love to acquire a LT this late in Round 2.  Sanders and Marcus Gilbert might not be the most talented tackle duo but they are tough and would get the job done.

32. Green Bay Packers            Chase Thomas          OLB         Stanford

Packers could use another sound pass rusher to complement Clay Matthews.  Currently they have bodies and not talent.  Thomas needs to improve his run defense but is very able pass rusher.  Capers will be great for this kid.
