Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire Pick Ups

facebooktwitterreddit

Let’s take a look at some players you should pick up and players to ignore from this past weekend’s game.

Add:

Tim Tebow, QB, Broncos

He won’t put up huge numbers, but his potential for short rushing touchdowns makes him valuable (6 points a pop).

(If available)

DeMarco Murray, RB, Dallas Cowboys

Hope you’re number one on the waiver wire because if not he’s going to be gone.

Knowshown Moreno, RB, Denver Broncos-Willis Mcgahee has been the man in Denver for awhlie, but suffered a broken hand and might not play for awhile. The Broncos could lean on the running backs while Tebow continues to learn how to play football at the N.F.L. Level. He’s been a disappointment, but could be a nice fantasy addition the rest of the season.

Antonio Brown, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers

Finally I’ve had him all season and he finally had a good game, (because Big Ben finally had a good game). Brown has actually recieved the second most targets on the Pittsburgh Steelers this year and could be considered the number two wide receiver behind Mike Wallace on Pittsburgh. If Big Ben is going to continue to play at this level Brown could be a steal down the stretch.

All Redskins Running backs

It seems like Tim Hightower could be done for the season which makes both Ryan Torain and Roy Helu decent fantasy adds and good bye week fill ins.

Kregg Lumpkin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This isn’t a season long addition, just add him until Legarette Blount comes back if you’re desperate for receivers. Josh Freeman is not playing well this year and the Buccaneers could lean on Lumpkin for that game.

Plaxico Burress, New York Jets

I still don’t think the Jets are anything special and Burress isn’t going to be a factor in between the twenties, but he is a big bodied WR and the Jets are back to “ground and pound” Sanchez has realized that Plaxico is a red-zone target. Buress won’t wow you the rest of the season, but 3 catches for 40 yards and a touchdown is possible any week. If you’re lacking depth Burress could be a nice backup and bye week fill in.

Carson Palmer, QB, Oakland Raiders

He played awful on Sunday, but I like his upside. If you have the roster space  (and you have bad quarterbacks) add him and see how he does after the bye week. I mean the other second quarterback options that are available don’t have his upside later in the season if you’re quarterback gets hurt, and with Josh Freeman, Matt Hasselbeck and others playing poorly what do you have to lose?

Jake Ballard, TE, New York Giants

He’s really coming on strong and looks like he’s going to be the player the Giants want to control the middle of the field. He’s not a great Receiver, but he gets ignored with all the attention Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham, and Victor Cruz are commanding (and Bradshaw in the screen game).

Ignore

Desmond Briscoe, WR, Buccaneers

One good game does not receiver make says Yoda. Leave ’em where he is.

Christian Ponder, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Ponder wasn’t THAT great, he looked pretty good and he has some mobility and could pick up some rushing yards, but keep in mind that the Packers are one of the worst pass defense teams in the league this year. There aren’t going to be many games moving forward that you’re going to play Christian Ponder.

Erick Decker, Denver Broncos, WR

If he’s still available in your league leave him there. Tim Tebow played up and down, but he doens’t seem like he’s going to rack up stats. Tebow is not a stat monster he’s a winner, but winners aren’t great in fantasy football.

Roy Williams, WR, Chicago Bears

He’s actually been playing much better, but quick fast fact. Roy Williams has One Season in his career of more than 1,000 yards receiving (way back in 2006). You would think with how big his name is that it would be much higher.
