College Football Week 8 Games To Watch

facebooktwitterreddit

This week is pretty dull when it comes to college football match ups.  There are 5 good ones and none of these contests begin until 7:30 PM

Tennessee 3-3 (0-3) VS #2 Alabama 7-0 (4-0) 7:15 PM ESPN 2

Tennessee may be a heavy underdog, but they may keep this game close.  If any Tennessee players stand out it could put a damper on the draft stock of a few Alabama prospects.

Alabama should win big.  I will go Alabama 64 Tennessee 7

USC 5-1 (3-1) VS Notre Dame 4-2 (0-0) 7:30 PM NBC

This will be an intriguing matchup.  The Trojans take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a highly anticipated games begin until 7:15 PM.  USC’s offense VS Monte Teo.  Michael Floyd and Tommy Rees trying to take down the Trojans again after Rees led Notre Dame to a road win over USC.

Barkley gets his revenge against this Notre Dame team.  USC 28 Notre Dame 27

#6 Wisconsin 6-0 (2-0) VS #16 Michigan State 5-1 (2-0) 8 PM ESPN

Wisconsin has the nations best offensive line while the Spartans defense has allowed the fewest yards in the nation.

I like Michigan State to win tonight 17 to 16 in a defensive contest over Wisconsin.

#25 Washington 5-1 (3-0) VS #8 Stanford 6-0 (4-0) 8 PM Eastern ABC

Washington has been a dark horse in the PAC 12.  Now the Huskies get their first major road test against Andrew Luck.  Right Guard David DeCastro will get lined up against Washington Huskie Nose Tackle Alameda Ta’amu in this contest.

I will take Stanford 38 to 17 over Washington.  Andrew Luck is too good leading Stanford’s offense.  The pass blocking scheme works.  Stanford has Owusu and Whalen at wide receiver plus the two tight end sets.  Stanford runs the football too with a balanced ball control offense.

Another game that I mention below also airs at 8 Eastern on ABC.  Most people will see this game instead of Washington VS Stanford.  I feel like Cable Companies are giving folks the less entertaining game on the local channel so they will pay more money for the premium game between Washington and Stanford.

Texas Tech 4-2 (1-2) VS #3 Oklahoma 6-0 (3-0) 8 PM Eastern ABC

Landry Jones gets another chance to prove himself.  A strong outing against Texas Tech and a poor showing against Notre Dame by Matt Barkley could convince me that Jones is better than Barkley.  I think Robert Griffin III is better than Landry Jones, but I expect RGIII to return for his senior year.

Oklahoma should win this game big.  I will take the Sooners 41 to 14.
