Taking Notice of Big Time Playmakers at Georgia Tech

Typically, Georgia Tech is one of the best running teams in all of college football, and that’s no different this year. Even without Anthony Allen and Joshua Nesbitt, the Yellow Jackets are cleaning house and utilizing a wide array of playmakers to lead the top rushing attack in the nation.

Quarterback Tevin Washington has been very efficient for the 13th ranked Yellow Jackets, passing for 10 touchdowns and rushing for six with only two interceptions. The junior has run the triple option to near perfection, helping the Yellow Jackets be in position to make some kind of run this season if they can potentially beat Clemson and Virginia Tech later this season.

You look at their roster and obviously stats are going to be slightly skewed because of the type of offense they run, but you see a guy like junior running back Orwin Smith who has rushed for 453 yards and eight touchdowns on only 31 carries. He’s also added seven catches for 214 yards and another score.

It wouldn’t be complete without a big play wide receiver, as we’ve gotten used to big time playmakers like Calvin Johnson and Demaryius Thomas through the years.

This year, it’s junior Stephen Hill, a 6’5″ 206 pound playmaker who has 16 receptions for a whopping 518 yards. He’s added four touchdowns and is carrying the tradition of big receivers who are big playmakers at Georgia Tech.
