Terrelle Pryor Will Have a Pro Day Workout on Friday

Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor will hold a pro day on Friday according to profootballtalk.com. It’s an interesting situation because not only has Pryor not been cleared for the supplemental draft, but that the league might not allow him into the supplemental draft.

There’s a school of thought in league circles that the NFL will find a way to exclude Pryor, ostensibly to ensure that players can’t render themselves ineligible for college (and thus eligible for the supplemental draft) at will but as a practical matter to please the keepers of the NFL’s free farm system.

I for one am hoping that Pryor makes it into the supplemental draft. I’m interested in seeing if teams value him more like Tyrod Taylor or former Hesiman winner Troy Smith, or if he’s closer to the Pat White draft slot (second round by the Dolphins in a move that looks absolutely terrible now).

Pryor is talented, but he will bring along with him plenty of character concerns and quarterbacks of his mold (mobile quarterback out of spread offenses) still haven’t shown great success at the N.F.L. There are a few mobile quarterbacks who have been very good passers, Elway, Young, Warren Moon, Aaron Rodgers to an extent, Mcnabb is a good quarterback though he’s an inconsistent passer. The ability to run effectively and also pass is devastating to stop when it’s done well. Though I’m generally a fan of the pocket passers though. But I don’t think Pryor will be a very good pro even though I concede his immense physical talents and hope he proves me wrong. The Ohio State mess off the field doesn’t help him at all. Still the exclusion of Pryor for the supplemental draft would really dull, (even more so than it already is), the supplemental draft so I’m hopeful he’s allowed to enter the supplemental draft and I even hope he wows in the “pro day”.
