With the addition of linebacker Stephen Tulloch from the Tennessee Titans as well as Justin Durant from the Jacksonville Jaguars and defensive tackle Nick Fairley in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions may have given themselves the best front seven in all of football.

Sure, that might be a bit of a bold statement, but take a look at this group on paper–they are absolutely stacked from top to bottom. Durant has had some injury problems in Jacksonville, only playing in 9 games last year, but he is one of the more talented young linebackers in the league and his addition to Detroit was a very underrated one.

With Jim Schwartz’s connections to Tennessee, it only seemed to make sense that he would get the Titans’ leading tackler, 26 year old Stephen Tulloch who had a whopping 160 tackles last year.

By re-vamping their group of linebackers as well as adding another playmaker at defensive tackle, the Lions may have established one of the best young front seven groups in football. The only thing they really lack is true depth at the linebacker positions, but they can continue to address that as the offseason rolls along.

I really like the moves this team is making. With the Packers and Bears likely the front-runners for this division next year, I could definitely see the Lions making a late run. They lost six games last year by five points or less, which is pretty outstanding. This team could really turn some heads, and I have to say, I will be rooting for them.
