2011 Fantasy Football Updated Top 10 RB Rankings

facebooktwitterreddit

I would like to apologize to my fellow fantasy football people, I have been MIA (miss in action) lately. My life has been a little crazy, and now, I’m also writing blogs for a sister site here at FANSIDED. No need to worry though, because Mr. Freakin’ Fantasy is back baby. You can now laugh if you want too. Anyways, looks like the end of the lockout should be about a week or so away, and for the greater good of the NFL I hope they get it done sooner then that. The longer the owners and players wait, they risk the chance of missing preseasons games, losing money, and fans.

This doesn’t keep me from my hours upon hours of research for fantasy football. Along with the countless mock drafts I have already done. There has been plenty of new information brought to my attention that has changed my RB rankings.

So, here are my revised RB rankings.

1. Adrian Peterson. One ranking that won’t change unless he gets hurt in a preseason game, is AP. Even if the Vikes don’t go after a veteran QB. He has proven year in and year out he’s a flat out stud. I do believe the Vikes will go after Donovan McNabb if the price is right. If they do land McNabb AP’s stock will go even higher (If that’s even possible). AP is as consistent as they come. Enough said.

2. Arian Foster. I had CJ here before, but things have changed since then. Foster plays in a dynamic offence. Also, I have heard rumors that Plaxico would like to play for them, and Houston might be interested. There’s no way on God’s green earth anyone could stack the box with AJ and Plax lining up together. Foster will have a solid season with or without Plaxico.

3. Jamaal Charles. There have been reports that Charles is going to get more carries, and Thomas Jones is taking his butt to the bench where he belongs. All I have to say is…..thank goodness for some common sense. That’s all I needed to here to move him up. Charles could explode if given 275 plus carries this year.

4. Chris Johnson. Ok, before I start getting a ton of  hate mail, here me out. Kenny Britt is going to miss some games because he can’t stay out of trouble, a rookie QB is going to start, and unless they bring in a guy like Matt Hasselbeck (not sure how much he has left in the tank anyway) teams will be stacking the box with at least 9 guys. The last, and most concerning problem is this. CJ said he will hold out unless the Titans redo his rookie contract….OH BOY. That’s not good news for fantasy football. I will continue to monitor this situation very closely as the NFL season approaches.

5. Ray Rice. I am almost giddy about the news I heard that will affect Rice for the better. It looks like the Raven’s won’t be bring back Willis McGahee. Willis is due 6 million, and the Raven’s aren’t going to pay him that.  Maybe, if he agrees to take a reduced rate they might keep him, but I think Willis gets the boot. Guess what happens next…goal line carries for Mr. Rice….oh yeah! Could be Ray’s biggest season yet if Willis is gone.

6. LeSean McCoy. Andy Reid has stated  he’s believes McCoy has earned a bigger work load, and can be trusted as the workhorse back. There has been reports that the Eagles also plan to run more this year to protect Mike Vick. This all translates into more production for McCoy.  He will be given more opportunities to shine this year.

7. Rashard Mendenhall. There is no one taking carries away from Rashard. He had a monster year last year, and that was without Big Ben for the first four games, and teams stacking the box. Well, Ben has stayed out of trouble so far in this long off season, and I see no reason that Rashard won’t put up big numbers again. Hines Ward did just get into some trouble though (never a good idea to drink and drive kids). Unlike CJ, this won’t hurt Rashard because the Steeler’s have Emmanual Sanders; who is better in my mind anyway.

8. Maurice Jones Drew. He is the biggest drop in the rankings from my earlier list. I thought MJD was running at full speed and back to full health months ago. Well, that’s not the case. There have been reports that MJD is only 80-85% healthy, and isn’t close to being at full speed. Big red flag for me. Also, there have been some rumors the Jennings will be getting a bigger work load because the Jag’s are worried about MJD knee. As of right now this situation is a mess. I will continue to monitor MJD very, very closely leading up to the start of the season. I’m not in total panic mode, but I’m getting there.

9. Darren McFadden. I have changed my opinion on Run DMC. He will be a big risk/reward this season. If he can stay healthy he will put up a big point totals. He’s strong, fast, and elusive. That’s a killer combo in my book. I went back and watched some of his games last year, and came away impressed. I would take a chance on McFadden and the end of the first or early second round.

10. Michael Turner. I also went back to the tapes and watched Turner last year. He looked horrible the last four games of the season. Turner lead the league in carries last year, and that never bolds well for the upcoming year. Also, the Falcons know the offence has to become more explosive because they were blown out by the Super Bowl Champs….in comes Julio Jones. I think this is Matt Ryan’s team now, and they are going to throw more this year. Not good news for Turner, as he can’t catch the ball to save his life. Turner will get all the goal line carries so it’s not like he will just fade away. Just be careful reaching to high for Turner come draft day.

Just missed the top ten.

11. Frank Gore.

12. Steven Jackson.

13. Matt Forte.

14. Ahmad Bradshaw.

15. Peyton Hillis.

That does it guys for the 10 top RB’s. My new top 10 WR’s coming soon.

Thanks so much for the time,

Christopher Halfer…AKA…Mr. Freakin’ Fantasy.
