Not so long ago, the New England Patriots dumped a measly fourth round pick to acquire former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss, and he completely revitalized his career. In fact, Moss probably made himself the best wide receiver in the NFL by heading to New England, and Malcom Floyd has an opportunity to follow in his footsteps.
The San Diego Chargers wide receiver is set to be a free agent whenever that period begins, and Pete Prisco of CBS Sports thinks that he would be a great fit with the Pats. The Patriots have one of the best receivers in the NFL right now in Wes Welker, but adding Floyd could add a whole other dimension to their offensive attack. Floyd is a 6’5″ 220 pound receiver out of Wyoming who has really just been waiting to break out in his years in San Diego.
It would be a wise investment for the Patriots to go after Floyd who could be a fantastic downfield threat for them to open up more opportunities for Wes Welker in the slot. Floyd is a Sacramento, California native, though, so staying with the Chargers might be a nice option for him especially since he is probably going to be signing his last large contract. It might benefit him to stay close to home.
The possibility of Brady throwing passes to Floyd though is pretty enticing, especially for fantasy football players.
