2011 Fantasy Football TE Sleeper Picks

facebooktwitterreddit

As I have previously stated with my Top 10 TE Rankings, you can find a TE late in this year’s Fantasy Draft. The TE field grows deeper by the year, and I feel there is no need to waste a high draft pick on a TE. There were  numerous TE’s available on the wavier wire last year, just to reiterate my point.

Lets now take a look at some TE sleeper picks….

Jimmy Graham. Guess what?? Jeremy Shockey isn’t a Saint anymore. So Mr. Graham will most likely have the TE position all to himself in 2011. I love this kids size at 6″6, he also has great hands. In a limited role last year, Jimmy put up 31 rec, 356 yards, and 5 tds. Graham is an outstanding end zone target for Bress. The only problem with Saint players is you never know who will blow up from week to week. It will help that Shockey’s not there anymore. This kid could be a steal in this years draft, but if  Fantasy writers like myself  keep taking him up he won’t be. I have Graham top 15 as of right now, but he has the potential to be top 8 in my opinion.

Lance Kendricks. The Rams just used their 47th overall pick on this kid. What that means to me is their going to use him…a lot! Now, at 6’4 Lance is a little small for the TE position, but he does have better then average speed. Lance isn’t the best run blocker, but good enough where he won’t get pulled off the field from poor play. You will not need to draft Lance in this years Fantasy draft. Just keep a mental note on this name and watch the waiver wire.

Jermaine Gresham. In Jermaine’s rookie season he compiled 52 rec, 471 yards with 4 tds, and that was with him fighting for touches. This year, Jermanie won’t have Owens and maybe Chad back to deal with taking looks away. What might hurt Jermanie is if Carson Plamer doesn’t end up coming back, but he does have good size at 6’5, which makes him a good end zone target for whoever is throwing him the ball. We will have to wait and see how the situation turns out in Cincinnati. If everything turns out in Jermaine’s favor, keep him on the back burner come daft time.

Greg Olsen. Man, what can I say about this guy. Greg  has turned out to be a major disappointment for fantasy purposes. Last year numbers  were 41 rec, 404 yards and 5 tds….yuck!! The problem with Greg is he can’t block well, and he has a problem with drops!!! What this means for you is, Greg will be forgotten about come draft time. I still believe Greg has the talent to be a great TE. Greg has good size at 6’5 and better than average speed. Take a late round flyer on Mr. Olsen because you never know if this is the year he puts it all together!

Tony Moeaki. In his Rookie year with the Chiefs,Tony played pretty well. We all remember that one handed td catch; it was a thing of beauty!! Tony’s stats for the year were 47 rec, 556 yards with 3 tds. The Chiefs are only getting better, they have built a roster full of young talent. With Tony having another year in the system, and Matt Cassel having another year under his belt, I  believe Tony could be in for a good year. Teams will have to worry about containing Bowe, also Dexter will be healthy, and Jamaal Charles is a flat out stud (editor’s note, let’s not forget the addition of Jon Baldwin). Now, at 6’3 Tony is built more like a WR, but he does have good hands and runs descent routes for a TE. I would take a late round flyer on Tony in this years draft. He could end up top 10 among TE’s!
