ESPN’s Adam Schefter Says: “All Signs Point” to Kevin Kolb Joining Cardinals

Well, if you believe what you hear from the two most reputable sources in the sports media world (Peter King, Sports Illustrated; Adam Schefter, ESPN) then Kevin Kolb is headed to the Arizona Cardinals, and likely for a first round pick or something of equal value.

As we noted in our earlier column, Peter King said in the Monday Morning QB that the Eagles have an offer on the table for Kolb, and the Eagles believe he is worth a first round pick. If you put two and two together, then it sounds like Kolb is headed to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a first round pick, or the equivalent of, whenever a new CBA is reached or players are allowed to be traded to other teams.

That could happen as soon as this week.

Kolb to the Cardinals is really a win-win for both teams involved. The Cardinals need a quarterback of the future desperately, and the Eagles could be getting themselves a pretty high draft pick next year. This trade would also be a huge win for the Cardinals because it would help them keep Larry Fitzgerald around. Fitzgerald has noted publicly that Kolb is his quarterback of choice, so it would seem like a logical match if the Cardinals intend on keeping Fitz around long term.

Keep an eye on this scenario. Again, if both Schefter and King are reporting it, it’s probably worth listening to. This would also be a big time move for Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt, who is allegedly on the chopping block. If Whisenhunt can get the Cards to show some life this year and maybe win the NFC West, he could save his job entirely.
