Jimmy Smith’s Stock Falling?

facebooktwitterreddit

I’ve been a big proponet of Jimmy Smith ON the field, but it turns out that there is a LOT of concern about Jimmy Smith off the field.

I’ve been busy making a seven round mock draft and finishing up the combine stuff so I haven’t updated the Big Board, but this information will probably reflect in the big board.

While reading draftinside.net I came across this little tidbit:

Jimmy Smith/Colorado: Stiff, slow pedaling in reverse and gathers into his drive. Does display the ability to flip his hips But much worse than that for Smith is this:

Another player receiving negative reviews on his performance during combine interviews was Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith.  We hear teams were so turned off that Smith could fall out of round one.  Smith did not look good in position drills nor turn in the performance scouts expected during his workout.  We’ve been told by people who were at the Carson, California facility where Smith was training the cornerback skipped workouts the two weeks prior to the combine.

I think that’s terrible news for Jimmy Smith. Skpping Workouts before the biggest interview in your life shows is not a great thing. Draftinsider thinks that Smith was so off-putting that he’ll fall into the second round.

Another player that is reportedly skipping his workouts is Boise State’s Titus Young:

During our combine report on the receiver workout we mentioned some of the problems Titus Young struggled with on Sunday, primarily his balance.  Sources told us Young was not dedicated to pre-draft training  and was another prone to missing workouts.

Young really had a poor combine. He was getting a lot of comparisions to DeSean Jackson, but he didn’t run nearly as fast as Jackson did and didnt look great in position drills, if this is true about him skipping workouts that will hurt his stock even more.

One last tidbit, everyone knew the Rams were going to look hard at WR in the first round and that Jones was their #1 target, but something I didn’t know is that the Rams also seem committed to finding an interior OL early in the draft. I’ve been assuming that Defensive linemen (both Hall and Robbins are aged) and linebackers would be the direction that they go

come back later today as our newewist writer, Eric, will unveil his first mock draft. And I will post my third round of the seven round mock draft.

Leave your thoughts on Jimmy Smith and Titus Young.
