Nevada Tight End Virgil Green Lights Up the Combine

Former Nevada Wolfpack tight end Virgil Green really stood out at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis today. He threw up 23 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press, had a 42.5 inch vertical leap, and a 10’10” broad jump. He also ran a 4.54 in the 40 yard dash, a number that was a couple tenths of a second off of what he’d probably hoped, but there’s no denying his athleticism.

As a senior at Nevada, Green had 35 receptions for 515 yards and five touchdowns. This is big news for the young tight end prospect, who was previously a fourth round prospect or later. This could vault him into the second day of the draft, similar to former South Carolina tight end Jared Cook, who was picked by the Tennessee Titans in the second round.

Green is 6’3″ 249 pounds, and has the look of a solid pass receiving option for some NFL team.
