East- West Shrine Game Preview
By Editorial Staff
While the College football season is officially over that doesn’t mean we don’t have the opportunity to watch some of our favorite players again. Today we get a chance to watch the East- West Shrine game where NFL Draft hopefuls are working to improve their draft stock. The game can be seen on the NFL Network starting at 3:30 eastern time. I for one love these games as it gives us an opportunity to get a look at prospects against different talent level. It also asks players to do things out of their comfort level, especially the quarterbacks. For example this week quarterback Pat Devlin of Delaware had to take snaps from under center which is something he rarely did while in college. So if your a college football fan and NFL Draft enthusiast then set some time aside this weekend to watch this football game.
I will be keeping my eye on several prospects which I listed below.
Pat Devlin– the quarterback is taking a step up in competition and is also adjusting to the more pro style offensive being employed. This game provides Devlin with an opportunity to answer some of the questions surrounding his game. The talk of the week has been of Devlin’s struggles but I am going to hold off judgement until I see him perform in the game.
Marvin Austin– Austin is coming off a season where he didnt see the field due to a suspension. Prior to the season Austin was in the top 10 of many big boards but the character concerns coupled of a wasted year dropped his stock. I have heard that Austin had a great week of practice and has scouts feeling that he could make a surge up draft boards.
Chris Hairston– I am a fan of Hairston and feel that he has a bright future in the NFL. He is a big kid with good balance and skills. This game should help get his name on the the map.
Terrell McClain– The South Florida defensive tackle has turned in a very good week of practice and could really be a guy teams fall in love with come April. I am really excited to get a better look at him this weekend.
