Pros

Greg has the blend of size/athleticism that will pass any eye test. Has long arms that he uses for leverage in both his pass rush and run defense. Has a quick first step and is very fast in stunts, getting into opponent backfields and causing havoc. Can set the edge when using proper leverage and is good at tracking down the ball carrier and finishing plays.

Cons:

Can lose focus at times and can wear out over the course of a game. Doesn’t always display a lot of strength, especially in the run game. Needs to learn to stay low when coming out of his stance. Will open up his chest from time to time and Tackles can get a free shot at locking into a block. Doesn’t always play with the proper consistency. Has had surgery on his back in January ’09 and is now out indefinitely after having back surgery on 9/23/10.

Thoughts:

Greg is a guy who on paper has it all. Has the versatility to play in either a 4-3 or 3-4 (as an end), the size, the speed, and statistics to back it up. He has been building a reputation for losing focus in games, but the recent news about his mother dying from cancer would do more than explain a lack of focus on football. Our prayers go out to Greg and the Romeus family.

Projected Round:

Greg should be out for at least the next six weeks after having surgery on his herniated disk and without a lot of senior tape, will need to make up ground by playing well in the Pre-Draft bowl games after the season. Has the potential to go in the first, but is a second to third rounder at this point. It all depends on how he heals from surgery.
