Detroit Lions Contributing Rookies

NFL Mocks is going to do a team by team look at what rookies have the potential to contribute during their first season.  Every year there are countless rookies that have major and minor impacts.  Everyone expects the 1st round picks to make an impact but we hope to point out some other players that may help your favorite team win games.

DT Ndamukong Suh – Ok, so this is one of the obvious ones. He just signed his contract worth guaranteed $40 million, with $60 million possible. Not too shabby. He should help a truly revamped line in Detroit that has a lot of potential to be dangerous with additions of Kyle Vanden Bosch, Corey Williams, and now Suh. Can’t wait to see what he can do in camp.

RB Jahvid Best – Best will add some excitement to a pretty stale offense. I thought he was a much better running back on film than C.J. Spiller who went in the top ten to Buffalo, but his late season concussion really hurt him now that the NFL is more conscience of it. He will have his faIr share of highlights on your sports clip show of choice and should be getting some looks as a returner.

CB Amari Spievey – The Lions have no depth behind off season trades for Chris Houston and Dre Bly at the corner back position. Word out of the most recent camp practices are that Amari is running with the second team defense already and could be a factor as a nickel back or sub for the aforementioned presumed starters.

WR Tim Toone – Already known for being Mr. Irrelevant, Toone made an impression on ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s recent visit to camp, saying he has a “legitimate” shot at being the Lions starting return man when the season starts. Best of luck to him.
