Last Monday, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford produced an impressive Pro Day in front of scouts in Norman, Oklahoma. Bradford was believed to be the top choice for the St. Louis Rams heading into the workout, and his performance furthered that belief.
With Bradford likely heading to St. Louis with the first-overall selection in April’s draft, the Rams have released 33-year-old quarterback Marc Bulger. The move leaves A.J. Feeley, Keith Null and Mike Reilly as the quarterbacks under contract on St. Louis’ roster.
“It is always hard to part ways with someone you care for and appreciate,” said St. Louis head coach Steve Spagnuolo. “I was fortunate as a first-year head coach to have Marc on our team. I will always be indebted to him for his work ethic, character and leadership. We wish him and his family nothing but the best.”
Bulger was actually released following a request he made. Bulger contacted Spagnuolo and asked that the team let him go.
The transaction makes it more clear that the Rams have a serious interest in Sam Bradford. St. Louis is rebuilding and it would be hard for them to pass up on a potential franchise quarterback after they have passed up Matt Ryan and Mark Sanchez in recent years.
