Former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jay Novacek received some horrible news today. His wife, LeAnne Novacek, was found dead in their home on Monday. LeAnne suffered a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted. Authorities believe it was a suicide.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office said Novacek’s body was found in the bedroom of the home in the 7700 block of FM 1902 just after 9 a.m. The 911 call came from Novacek’s mother, Sandifer said. Novacek, 45, lived in nearby Joshua.

Police said they are awaiting the medical examiner’s ruling on a cause and manner of death.

“It appeared no foul play, so we’re waiting for the medical examiner’s findings,” Sandifer said.

Novacek was drafted by the Cardinals and become a member of the Cowboys in the early 1990′s. He contributed to the teams three wins in four seasons.

Novacek was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008 and he was a five-time Pro Bowler.
