Two ‘Bama Starters, McClain and Jackson, Leaning Towards NFL Draft

by NFL Draft

Alabama is preparing for their National Championship game against Texas which will take place on Thursday. It seems like this could be the last game in a Crimson Tide uniform for two junior defensive starters, linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive back Kareem Jackson.

Sources close to both players have confirmed that the two are leaning towards going pro.

2009 Butkus Award winner, Rolando McClain, has confirmed that he submitted his paperwork for evaluation by the NFL draft committee, however, he would not commit to a decision just yet.

“I don’t even know if we’ve got (the grade) back yet,” McClain said. “But that’s not my focus. We’ll deal with that after this game.”

McClain is a first-round lock if he were to enter and he could climb into the top ten picks. Jackson, on the hand, may not go in the first-round, but he should still hear his name called on day 1 of the draft.

  1. Rolo would be crazy not to go.

I agree. I like McClain a lot more as a prospect than Mayo just a few years ago. McClain can instantly make the Pro Bowl and would be my favorite for Defensive Rookie of the Year. (only because DTs rarely win the award, so that eliminates Suh)

McClain has the skill-set and intelligence to instantly turn around a defense. I look forward to seeing what he can do in the pros.

  3. I absolutely agree and that’s saying something because Mayo is a player.

IN MY OPINION WHICH DOES NOT COUNT LOL… I THINK THAT ANY COLLEGE PLAYER THAT GOES TO COLLEGE ON A SCHOLARSHIP SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FINISH THAT SCHOLARSHIP OUT “GRADUATE” BEFORE THEY CAN ENTER INTO THE NFL DRAFT! BECAUSE THERE SCHOLARSHIP COULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO SOMEONE ELSE THAT WANTS TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE AND NOT JUST GO STRAIGHT FOR THE BIG BUCKS!!!

  5. Josh Sanchez Josh Sanchez says:

@Danny but they aren’t given academic scholarships… they are rewarded athletic scholarships so they are only brought to the school because they excel at a certain sport. People who are genuinely interested in academics get academic scholarships.
