The NFL Draft just received a big boost at the top end as Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy announced he will head to the NFL.
In a statement released by the school McCoy said:
“I made the decision around mid-season when I knew that I would have enough credits to graduate. Graduation was my main goal and once I knew I had that accomplished, I wanted to look at playing in the NFL.
“I loved my experience at OU and I’m going to miss it. I accomplished almost everything I wanted to get
done here and it has been very positive with my teammates, the coaches, the fans, everyone.”
McCoy, No. 4 on the NFL Mocks Big Board, is the clear number two defensive tackle behind Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh. He will likely hear his name called within the first ten picks of the 2010 Draft.
