Throughout the season it has been clear that the Washington Redskins have not been happy with the play of quarterback Jason Campbell. Campbell’s contract expires after the 2009-10 season and will likely signal the end of his time in Washington.
Adding to speculation that Campbell will be on the outs, Rick Maese of the Washington Post reported that Redskins executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato and owner Dan Snyder were spotted at a University of Texas game scouting quarterback Colt McCoy.
Cerrato has also scouted Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen in person.
The belief among many people close to the Redskins organization is that the team will use a first-round pick on what they hope will become the team’s next franchise quarterback.
