C.J. Spiller the Clemson Thriller

Posted by: nflmocks

After spending his first three years splitting time with current Cleveland Browns rookie James Davis, Clemson’s C.J. Spiller is primed for a breakout senior year.

The Florida native is seen by most scouts as the top running back prospect in the 2010 NFL draft despite a steady dip in rushing yards since his freshman year. Spiller has seen his yardage totals decrease each year, going from 938 yards as a true freshman to 629 yards during his junior campaign. Look to James Davis as the reason for Spiller’s decline in addition to a change in the coaching regime.

What the stats don’t tell the highlight reel screams: This dude can fly!

Spiller was the lightning to the thunder of James Davis. He’s a member of Clemson’s track team and has been clocked at a blazing 10.33 seconds in the 100-yard dash. Once he concludes his senior year, C.J. is sure to get plenty of love at the NFL Draft combine. After all, he’s rumored to have 4.3 second 40-yard dash speed.

The former Parade All-American is an open field dynamo. Spiller returns kicks for Clemson and had a dazzling 83-yard touchdown run in the 2007 Chick-Fil-A Bowl, the longest play from scrimmage in Clemson bowl game history.

If you’re a fan of ACC football, then his prowess is all too familiar. If you’ve never seen him play, then get your popcorn ready. C.J. Spiller will be running past would be tacklers in ‘09 on his way to hearing his name called by Roger Goodell in 2010.
