Worst Man Drafted Tournament: North Region Round One
The North region might be our favorite of the four Worst Man Drafted regions. In this bracket we have some of the craziest receivers of all time. Just hang with us as we take you for a stroll down memory lane…
WR Hart Lee Drykes. Dude sustained career-ending injuries in a bar brawl and only played two years.
WR Michael Westbrook. Best known for punching out Redskins teammate Stephen Davis.
WR R. Jay Soward. A 4:20 alcoholic who couldn’t even make it to practice on time when Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin hired a limo to take him everyday. He ended up with 14 career receptions in his lone year in the league.
WR Charles Rogers. Can’t forget about him. The man with the iron lung and the glass collarbones. Gotta love it!
But the star of this region is undoubtedly Tony Mandarich, aka the Incredible Shrinking Bulk. The Packers selected him second overall in 1990. That was behind Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman, and just ahead of HoF running back Barry Sanders, HoF linebacker Derrick Thomas and future HoF cornerback Deion Sanders. Unfortunately for them, the Packers did not draft his steroids. Brett Favre was a peace offering from the football gods, I suppose.

March 26th, 2009 at 1:38 amI like the idea behind this, but some of these guys are 2nd round picks (Todd Collins, Quincy Carter). I’m not saying 2nd round picks can’t be busts, but it’s not that big of a surprise when it happens. It also doesn’t set a team back as far as when 1st rounders go belly up, unless you have it happen every year.
