NFL Mock Draft: 6.0 (Christmas Eve Edition)
First here’s some frequently asked questions about my mock draft:
1) The order is done by the current NFL standings. The NFL only has one week left but there are still 11 teams fighting for playoff spots and the winner of the NFC North, AFC East, NFC South, and AFC West still are not determined.
2) This draft has not picked 12 playoff teams. Instead I just did it in the exact order of the NFL Standings, that way nobody can complain about this team or that team being in or out of the playoffs. I will adjust this when we know who the 12 playoff teams are next week.
3) I do these weekly but only here at NFLmocks.com so make sure you check back often for updates.
4) Make sure you leave comments below but to remember it is only Christmas Eve so a lot is going to change before the NFL Draft. Right now it is hard to tell what each teams needs.
Without further adu, here’s the latest NFL Mock Draft:

QB Matthew Stafford

DT Al Woods

Interesting and solid mock. I'm just glad to see someone finally having the Browns pick someone other than Beanie Wells or Malcom Jenkins. I'd personally like to see them pick LB Ray Mauluaga. They desperately need someone who can step in, make plays, and be a difference maker right away on that side of the ball. It doesn't matter how good your CB's are if your front 7 can't make plays (ex. Denver Broncos).
December 25th, 2008 at 7:30 amThere is no way Detroit takes a RB, K. Smith is close to 1000 yds and he only started 9 games this year. Andre Smith will not be the first T taken he is overweight and can't handle speed rushers. If stafford is available at Detroits 2nd 1st rd pick he is theirs. otherwise they will go D, spikes or Laurinitas. Detroit will take either Monroe or Stafford #1a and #1b will be either the best LB available or perhaps duke robinson, they think they are set at tackle. I know it sounds crazy but that is the buzz in Detroit.
December 25th, 2008 at 7:52 amOf course all of this depends on the new coaching staff and if they stay with the tampa 2 D, personally I hope the get someone who runs a 3-4 but who knows.
i don't think the jets will draft a DE in the first round
December 26th, 2008 at 6:12 amHOW DO LIONS END UP WITH SUCH A GOOD PICK (15)? EVEN IF DALLAS MISSES PLAYOFFS/
December 26th, 2008 at 7:35 amim sorry we dont need a qb this year,we will not improve that much, our line is horrible
ot with first pick, andre smith is a road grader/second pick is dt (5.2) yards allowed per carry
i like terence (mount) cody 2 rd first pick lb from usc cushing has been falling/also spikes could fall,we dont need another rb either k.smith is legit
also in third rd chase coffman te is legit
so if we go LT,DT,MLB,TE I LIKE THAT,did i say jeff backus sucks(52 sacks)
I agree; the Jets will take either the best ILB or CB available. They don't need edge players (DE's/OLB's) as Shaun Ellis, Kenyon Coleman, Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas have played very well this year, and they'll probably wait to see if Vernon Gholston is a bust before considering an edge player.
December 26th, 2008 at 11:36 amPretty solid, though I think you're missing the boat a bit on Aaron Curry. He won't fall out of the Top 12-13. Worst case scenario is Chargers.
December 27th, 2008 at 2:03 amI do not see Detroit taking a running back with their second pick I see them going linebacker or defensive tackle then addressing their secondary with the second round pick solid draft I like then taking OT with the 1st overall
December 27th, 2008 at 4:10 amYou must be an LSU fan cause I don't see any of them going in the first round, maybe Jackson late, let alone 4 of them!!!
December 28th, 2008 at 3:55 amseeing as the steelers have the top pass d right now and one of the worst offensive lines, i dont see them taking a db in the first rd over an offensive lineman, other than that i like the mock
December 28th, 2008 at 4:14 amI have got to say this is a solid Mock draft. I like that it doesn't have the mediocre QB's coming out this year going high and yes they are mediocre. The only pick I don't like is the Cards taking a LB with Alex Mack still on the board. He is the best center prospect in years, and that teams is hurting for a center.
December 29th, 2008 at 5:02 amI don't think Green Bay picks a corner in the first round. Because of recent injuries to the safety position they have moved Charles Woodson to safety and have his back up Tramon Williams at starting left corner. He's played aggressively while maintaining tight coverage so I think they are comfortable at corner even with the aging Woodson and Harris. Williams was also third on the team in passes defended (two more than Harris) even though he wasn't the normal starter. Plus Woodson has had a Pro Bowl year and neither has shown any signs of slowing down, and Will Blackmon and last years second round pick Lee have shown they were capable when called upon. Aaron Kampan had 10 sacks while being doubled almost the entire year and the rest of the team could only muster 16. I think Thompson goes DE in round one if Orakpo or Johnson are available and that will allow them to move Cullen Jenkins inside to DT to help shore up that awful run defense. If Orakpo or Johnson are off the board look for Ted to go O-Line. Their tackles are ancient and the entire O-line has played poorly all year.
December 29th, 2008 at 10:59 amAlmost every mock draft I see has Tennessee taking Percy Harvin. The track record for the Titans is to pick D first, and WR in the mid-rounds and hope to find a sleeper. They are 13-3 this season, so why would they change their philosophy now? Harvin is always hurt in college…so what are the chances he is healthy in the pros. 5 mediocre WR's are better than 1 stud in street clothes.
Look for them to draft the best LB available.
December 30th, 2008 at 5:17 amPlease Bengals, take Beanie or Maualuga!
January 4th, 2009 at 4:03 amNo way in the world do the Eagles select a defensive end. They are loaded at that position right now. Their 3rd round pick from last years draft can't even dress for games.
January 5th, 2009 at 10:01 amI don’t kno the mock would say miami is going to take DE george selvie we had a a verry good pick up of line man on both sides with kendal langford and phillip merling did u guys see the jets game 97 with a big interception while he was playin the screen but besides that I feel we need a DB because all of our secondary is over 30 and both of our safetys a restricted free agents

January 7th, 2009 at 2:15 pmI agree with Goods and I am an LSU fan..Tyson might be a late first rounder or early second rounder as well as Ciron Black..However the sleeper in this years draft will be Herman Johnson LG of LSU. I wouldn't be too surprised if he is also a late first rounder or early second especially if he does well at the combine. And Laurinitias is the best LB in this years draft. That is who the Lions need to get in the first round..some one to anchor that defense; and give their second first rounder for Boldin or Ocho Cinco. In the second round get Herman Johnson, if available. Oh yeah, and if the Saints are smart they would get rid of CB Jason David..and draft Vontae Davis or S Taylor Mays..or someone who can play the middle deep and defend the deep ball as safety. cause I believe we set everywhere else. Grant will be back and hopefully that will help their pass rush.
January 13th, 2009 at 5:41 amThis doesn't seem right for what you have here on the Lions. Stafford seems to be the number 1 in my eyes, getting a face to put on a poor franchise. After that, defense has to be the focus unless you can manage a steal in regards to the o-line.
January 13th, 2009 at 10:02 amThis draft needs to be updated. The lions hold the 1st and 20th pick. and no way they take a RB with the second pick. I also agree with alot of LSU guys in that first round too.
