Favre to the Jets: What it means for New York

Posted by: nflmocks

Brett Favre is now a New York Jet and we can all sleep again at night without having nightmares of Favre’s ongoing saga.

But what does it mean for the Jets? Here’s the best I can do five minutes after the trade:

1) Brett Favre answers the questions at the quarterback position for them.  So long Chad Pennington, who I expect to be traded. And Kellen Clemens, wait your turn.

2) The Patriots better look out…….okay maybe not but this does once again solidify the Jets as the #2 team in the AFC East. How couldn’t it? Only New England knew who their quarterback was until now, but New York joins them in that comfort zone after this. Buffalo and Miami are still searching.

3) Playoffs? Playoffs? Are we talking about playoffs? Perhaps. Remember it was only two years ago that the Jets were 10-6 and made the playoffs. In a conference with Indianapolis, New England, San Diego, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland they are going to need more than just Favre though. I’d give them 12-1 odds of making the playoffs in the AFC.

4) And finally Super Bowl? It’s not happening. Sorry Jets fans but even if Favre does guide New York into the playoffs he won’t be able to get through Indy, San Diego, and New England but at least we do get to watch #4 on the field one more season.
