Mel Kiper makes more money doing what he does for ESPN. I’m sure he’s a multi-millionaire several times over, and he obviously has a ton of influence with GMs. What an asinine, smart ass comment that was, Gremlin. C’mon, man.

Paul, I like what I’ve seen from Flowers, and just wanted to cite that others felt the same way about him being a first rounder. Since Kiper is the most famous draft guru of all I just went ahead and used him and his POV. Agree to disagree, but I’ve never seen a reaction to any player like this. Are you guys capable of forming your own opinion, or do you just think what a few mocks tell you to?

Justin King in the 1st? He may have speed, but he sure struggled last year in coverage. Mel Kiper may have him going in the 1st, but the majority have King in the 2nd or 3rd. Last year 7 of Kiper’s “projected” 1st rounders dropped into the 2nd and 3rd rounds. So even Kiper isn’t correct 100% of the time.

I doubt the Packers would take Brandon Flowers at #30. Too small. They tend to prefer bigger CBs. Antoine Cason is more their style. As for Mel Kiper and his ability to judge talent. I have to ask you, if he’s (as you put it) “The damn guru of gurus” and “He’s still the best in the business”. Why isn’t he an NFL General Manager?

I already cited Kiper agreeing with me, do I need to go find more similar evaluations of King? Man. The damn guru of gurus agrees that the guy is a first rounder and I’m getting this much flak. Whatever–I’m sticking with King where he’s at in this draft. Kid can play.

Frank, I think Collins will continue to be a riser. He might not crack the first round, but he has that kind of talent. Think Tony Ugoh. I almost thought about drafting a QB for the Niners, but Martz also doesn’t like spending high picks on QBs. He’s a system guy. Thanks for dropping by…

Wow…that seems a little high for Collins. I like the idea of a young bookend to Staley, though. Appreciate your foresight into their needs…most have Niners taking a WR, which could happen, but Martz is just as big on his OL as his receivers. He can still get a top receiver with their 2nd rd (#39) pick…someone like Doucet or Andre Caldwell could be a terrific slot receiver.

Reggie Smith is a great player, one who can play two positions. I don’t know why everyone is knocking King, I think the guy is a big time prospect. Same with Flowers. As for Cason, he just missed out. I like Cason, but his stock seems to be falling no matter who you ask.

While I agree that Kiper may be a tad overrated, he is human, so he does make some mistakes. He’s still the best in the business. There’s a lot of Mel haters out there hating just to hate. I’d like to see someone do it better.
